Staysure Tour Qualifying School Final Stage is over and 44 players have booked their place at next week’s Final Stage where they will join 32 exempt players in a bid to earn playing privileges for the 2019 season.
First Stage took place at Gramacho Golf Course and Silves Golf Course at Pestana Golf Resort over the last two days where spots for Final Stage were on offer for the top 20 and ties at each course.
At Silves Golf course, 23 players have progressed to next week’s Final Stage at Vale da Pinta with Taiwan’s Ter-chang Wang finishing top of the leaderboard with a four under par total following rounds of 68-68.
One shot behind Wang is Englishman Neil Cheetham on three under par, while Sweden’s Fredrik Larsson completes the top three after adding a second round 65 to an opening 73.
Six players made the grade on the number in tied 18th, including David John Wilson who bounced back from a seven over par front nine with a three under back nine to book his place in Final Stage.
Over at Gramacho Golf Club, 21 players advanced with three tied at the top of the leaderboard after two rounds.
Scottish amateur Euan McIntosh, Canadian David Morland IV and America’s John Inman led the way on six under par, with Spaniard Castor J Gomez a shot back on five under par and countryman Rafael Benitez finishing on three under par in fifth place.
