The 2018 Staysure Tour season was another memorable campaign filled with fantastic shots, amazing rounds, stunning comebacks and iconic victories. We take a look at some of the moments you might have missed from the year.

Sharjah finished under the floodlights

The opening event of the 2018 campaign took place at Sharjah Golf & Shooting Club, where Thaworn Wiratchant was crowned champion of the Sharjah Senior Golf Masters presented by Shurooq. The Bangkok-native defeated American Clark Dennis and Aussie Peter Fowler in a play-off under the floodlights.

History maker Laura Davies

At the Shipco Masters promoted by Simon’s Golf Club, Dame Laura Davies became the first woman to compete in a Staysure Tour event. The Englishwoman, a World Golf Hall of Fame member, carded rounds of 78-71-75 to finish tied 44th.

Sandelin’s sunnies

Never to miss an opportunity, Jarmo Sandelin rocked a special pair of sunglasses when the sun came out in Denmark.

THAT Remesy celebration

There were many memorable wins in 2018 with each winner celebrating in his own way, but it is fair to say, no celebration came close to Jean-François Remesy’s release of emotion after winning the Swiss Seniors Open. Wait for it…

Dodd’s birthday present; to me, from me

Stephen Dodd made sure he would remember his 52nd birthday as he celebrated in style by winning the WINSTONgolf Senior Open. The Welshman carded rounds of 64-66-71 to go wire-to-wire with the spectators at WINSTONgolf adding to the celebrations when he holed his final putt.

Jiménez final round preparations at St Andrews

After 54 holes, Miguel Angel Jiménez led The Senior Open Presented by Rolex, and he could not have looked more relaxed ahead of the final round as he helped out at the Andalucía Golf Federation stand in the Spectators’ Village at the Old Course.

Luck shines on Sandelin after losing wedding ring

Losing golf balls is something golfers are accustomed to – some more so than others – but losing your wedding ring is far more costly. After misplacing his wedding ring during the third round of the Staysure PGA Seniors Championship, Jarmo Sandelin called upon the help of London Golf Club’s staff to retrieve his priceless possession.

Magnus the Magician

Magnus P Atlevi is a two-time Staysure Tour winner, a runner-up on the Staysure Tour Order of Merit in his rookie season, and able to hit right and left-handed drives. On the way to his second over-50s title after an opening round of 66, the right-handed Swede headed to the range to work on his game, which included hitting left-handed drives.

Nick Job – a true gentleman

The Alliance format is a favourite on the Staysure Tour, combining professionals with amateurs in a better-ball competition. During the round it gives tour players a chance to help the amateurs with their game, and Nick Job went one better than that at the European Tour Properties Senior Classic, as he gave one of his playing partners a lesson on the range after their round.

The world’s most picturesque par three

The Staysure Tour visits an array of spectacular golf courses during the year and the course at Constance Lemuria in Seychelles did not disappoint. Home to the season-ending MCB Tour Championship – Seychelles the sun-kissed venue featured one of the most iconic par three holes in the world.
