Thomas Pieters is the headline name in the field when the third edition of the ISPS Handa World Super 6 Perth gets under way at the Lake Karrinyup Country Club.

The Belgian, who has three European Tour victories to his name, starred on debut during Europe's defeat to the United States in the 2016 Ryder Cup where he won four points including his Sunday Singles match against JB Holmes and will be seen as a contender for the unique event in Perth.

All 156 players will play 36 holes of stroke play before the field is trimmed to the top 65, with a further round of stroke play to reduce the number to 24.

The final round will be in a match play format to determine the winner and follow in the footsteps of home favourite Brett Rumford and Thailand's Kiradech Aphibarnrat.

Pieters will start on the tenth tee alongside Australian pair Jason Scrivener and Dimitrios Papadatos at 07.10, while 2006 U.S. Open Championship winner Geoff Ogilvy will be grouped with compatriot Wade Ormsby and Japan's Yuta Ikeda at 12.20 at the first tee.

Winner of last week's ISPS Hando Vic Open David Law, will be alongside in-form Australian Lucas Herbert and Perth native Min Woo Lee at 07.00 at the tenth tee, with member of the victorious European Team at the 2012 Ryder Cup Nicolas Colsaerts starting at mid-day at the first in a group with Malaysia's Gavin Green and New Zealand's Ryan Fox.

Two-time European tour winner of match play events Adrian Otaegui is with England's Tom Lewis and home favourite Matthew Griffin, starting at 12.20 at the first, while Ireland's Paul Dunne will begin his campaign with a 06.50 start alongside Zach Murray and Jake McLeod.

Three-time European Tour winner Jeunghun Wang gets under way at 12.10 at the tenth with Frenchman Grégory Bourdy and Australian Brad Kennedy.
